Free Job Hunting Advice
Career Advice Network has teamed up with The CV Store to provide our candidates with the most common job hunting mistakes.
Your CV is a personal sales pitch - like an advert for your skills, experience and achievements. There are many easy mistakes that are made when writing your CV - spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and not explaining gaps in employment properly
Not being available to take a telephone call
Many people provide recruiters with a telephone number which they are never available on during the day. Check your answer phone messages regularly!
Wrong contact details
Believe it or not, this is a common problem in many CVs. Before distributing your CV, check your email / postal address and phone / mobile numbers thoroughly - one digit wrong could lead to a missed call.
Unnecessary information
There is no need to include details of qualifications you included at school 20 years ago. Only state recent qualifications / courses and ones that specifically relate to the job you're applying for.
