Take a Psychometric Test now

Anyone applying for jobs will, sooner or later, be required to take a personality or psychometric test. Actually, "test" is a misnomer as there is no right or wrong answer to any of the questions so they might better be called "assessments".

The questions posed in personality and psychometric tests broadly fall into two categories. In the first, a situation is described and you are asked to choose your reaction to it from several choices. The second category will contain groups of statements and you are asked to choose the one that you most identify with.

The immediate problem faced by anyone taking a personality or psychometric test for the first time is that it is often the case that none of the options offered seem appropriate. That is why it is important to be able to imagine yourself in the situation being presented so that you can clearly decide your preference.

Personality and psychometric tests are checking for a bias in your personality. This is evidenced by the way that the test will contain several similar scenarios or offer groups of statements that are similar to each other. This way your reaction to similar situations can be averaged.

As you can see, the ability of personality and psychometric tests to assess your personality relies heavily on your ability and willingness to focus on a standard set of questions.

The weakness of personality and psychometric tests is that they are limited to what is being asked rather than what you might want to say about yourself. Nevertheless, they enable your personality to be categorised into a few types that cover the key areas of interest to employers.

When taking a personality or psychometric test it is important to understand that there are no right or wrong answers. Do your best to imagine yourself in the scenario described and choose the answer that most closely describes your response or the one that you feel least uncomfortable with.
